Well, let me tell you, I heard some folks talkin’ about this thing, “Book ’em, Danno“. Sounds kinda important, you know? Like some kinda police talk. I ain’t no expert, but I heard it’s from that old TV show, what’s it called… Hawaii Five-O. Yeah, that’s the one. Used to watch it back in the day, you know. Old days.

So this “Book ’em, Danno”, it’s somethin’ that fella, the big boss, would say. This guy, Steve, Steve somethin’. Steve McGarrett, yeah. Tough guy. He’d say it to his partner, Danno. That was his name, Danno. Sounds silly. His full name was Danny Williams, but they just called him Danno.

Every time they catch those bad guys, which they do, they always catch ’em, every time they catch ’em, Steve would say, “Book ’em, Danno“. Means, like, take ’em to jail, write their names down. You know, police stuff. Put ’em in the book. They done bad stuff. They gotta go to jail.

  • That Steve, he was a tough cookie, always gettin’ his man.
  • And Danno, he was always there, helpin’ out.
  • They made a good team, catchin’ all them crooks.

This show, Hawaii Five-O, it was a big deal. Ran for a long time. I think they made these shows from, uh, 1968 to 1980. Long time! Lots of folks watched it. I remember watchin’ it with my family, you know. Good times. This guy, what was the name? Jack Lord? Yeah, he played Steve. And Danno, he was played by, uh, James MacArthur. That’s it, James MacArthur.

They don’t make shows like that anymore, do they? All this new stuff, it ain’t the same. Back then, things were simpler. Good guys, bad guys, you knew who was who. And every time, the good guys won. Just like it should be. This “Book ’em, Danno”, it meant the good guys won. Bad guys go to jail.

So, yeah, “Book ’em, Danno“. It was a big thing. This phrase, “Book ’em, Danno,” everyone knew it. They heard it all the time on TV. That Steve, he said it all the time. To Danno. You know, “Book ’em, Danno!” Just like that. They made the show for 12 seasons. That’s a lot of catching bad guys.

I heard they say “Book ’em” in the first episode, too. That’s where it all started. That’s how everyone start to know this thing. So everyone start to say it.

That Leonard Freeman, he made the show. Smart fella. He made a good show. Everyone loved it. “Book ’em, Danno”, everyone knew what it meant. Means you’re caught. You’re goin’ to jail. Steve McGarrett said it, and that was that. He was the boss. When he said “Book ’em”, you’re booked.

  • “Book ’em” means you are arrested.
  • Steve McGarrett, the tough guy, always said it.
  • “Book ’em, Danno” means the episode is done. Bad guys are caught.

This Danno guy, he was important, too. I mean, Steve always told him to book ’em. So he must’ve been important. He did what Steve said. Always. He did a good job. He was a good partner to Steve. That’s what’s the show is about. Two good police catching bad guys. That’s good.

You know, it’s kinda nice to think about those old shows. Simpler times. Good guys always won. And that phrase, “Book ’em, Danno“, it just kinda sticks with you. Makes you think of that tough guy, Steve, and his partner, Danno, catchin’ all them bad guys in Hawaii. They did a good job, those two. They sure did. They catch those bad guys, and Steve says, “Book ’em, Danno.” Every time.

Yeah, so that’s what I heard about this “Book ’em, Danno” thing. It was a big deal back then. Big deal. And the show, Hawaii Five-O, everyone loved that show, you know. It was a good show. They should make more shows like that. Those were the good old days. Yes, they were.
