Alright, so I wanted to try my hand at drawing a black hole. I’ve seen some pretty cool pictures online, and I thought, “Why not give it a shot?”

Getting Started
First, I grabbed a piece of plain white paper and a few pencils. I figured I’d start with a simple sketch and see where it goes. I’m no artist, mind you, but I like to doodle now and then.
The Circle
I started by drawing a big circle in the middle of the page. I mean, a black hole is kinda round, right? At least, the event horizon is. I used a compass to help me.
Making it Dark
This is where things got interesting. I started shading in the circle, making it as dark as possible. I used the side of my pencil lead to get a nice, even tone. It took a while, and my hand started to cramp a bit, but I kept at it.
The Glow
- I did the first glowing circle outside the black circle.
- I did the second glowing circle outside the first glowing circle.
- And then kept going.
Black holes aren’t just black, though. They have this glow around them, right? So, I used a lighter pencil to create a sort of halo effect around the dark circle. I blended it in with my finger to make it look smoother.
Adding Some Stars
To make it look like it was in space, I added some stars around the black hole. I just tapped the pencil lightly on the paper to create tiny dots. I tried to make them look random, like a real star field.

The Final Result
After a while, I decided I was done. It wasn’t perfect, but it looked pretty cool. I mean, it kinda resembled a black hole, at least to me. It was definitely a fun little project, and I learned a thing or two about shading and blending.
It looks like the black hole is twisting and absorbing the surrounding stars, haha. I did it!
So, yeah, that’s how I drew a black hole. It’s not rocket science(haha, get it?), but it’s a fun way to spend an afternoon.
