So, I’ve been wanting to catch some baseball games lately, but I didn’t want to go through the whole cable subscription thing. A buddy of mine told me about Sling TV, saying it’s a pretty decent option for streaming sports. I decided to give it a shot and see if I could watch some MLB action without too much hassle.

First thing I did was head over to their website to check out the packages. They’ve got this Sling Orange and Sling Blue thing, which was a bit confusing at first. Turns out, if you’re into baseball, you kind of need both. Orange gets you ESPN, and Blue gets you FS1, and those two channels show a good chunk of the nationally broadcast games. And, they mentioned some add-on called “Sports Extra”. I noticed it includes MLB Network and MLB Strike Zone, along with other sports channels, seemed cool.
I signed up for both packages, just to be safe. It came out to be around 55 bucks a month, which isn’t super cheap, but it’s still less than what I’d pay for cable. Plus, they were running a promo where I got the first month for a bit cheaper.
Once I got everything set up, I started browsing through the channels. Finding the games was pretty straightforward. They have a schedule that tells you which games are on which channels, so I just had to tune in at the right time. They also said I could get access to every MLB team’s out-of-market games through *, and there was a discount for that in the first month.
- Tried out the service and watched a few games. The streaming quality was solid, no buffering or anything like that.
- Navigating through the app was simple enough. They have a guide that’s similar to what you’d see on a regular TV.
- Noticed they also have other sports channels, like TNT, for NBA, NHL and etc.
Overall, I’d say Sling TV is a decent option for watching baseball without cable. It’s not perfect. You might miss some local games, and it can get a bit pricey if you want all the sports channels. But for me, it did the job. I got to watch my games, and that’s all that really matters.
One thing that did kind of annoy me, though, is that they don’t have local channels in every area. So, if your local team isn’t playing on ESPN or FS1, you might be out of luck. It’s something to keep in mind if you’re a die-hard fan of a particular team.

But yeah, that’s my experience with Sling TV and baseball. It’s a viable option if you’re looking to cut the cord and still catch some games. Just make sure you do your research and see if it’s the right fit for you.
