Okay, so I’ve been seeing a ton of stuff about Axell Hodges, especially his dirt bike skills, all over the internet. I figured, why not try to learn a little bit more about what he does and maybe even try to, you know, copy some of his simpler moves? I mean, I’ve ridden dirt bikes a few times before, but nothing crazy.

First thing I did was, I watched a bunch of his videos. Just hours of him riding, doing jumps, and all sorts of tricks. I wanted to get a feel for his style and see what I thought I could maybe handle.
Getting Started
Next, I found a decent open space. No way was I going to try anything near trees or, you know, people. It was just a big, empty field, pretty flat, nothing too scary. I made sure I had all the safety gear on, a proper helmet, gloves, boots, the works, and I felt safer.
- Helmet – check!
- Gloves – check!
- Boots – check!
- A bit of fear – double check!
The Actual Riding
I started by just getting comfortable on the bike again. It had been a while. I practiced riding around, getting used to the throttle, the brakes, and the feel of the bike on the dirt. I didn’t want to jump into anything too quickly.
Then, I tried some really small jumps, not much. Just bumps in the field, to be honest.
I just wanted to get the feeling of the bike leaving the ground and landing. I repeated that a bunch of times, getting a little more confident each time, but not much.
After I felt okay with the tiny bumps, I attempted a slightly bigger one, though it was more like a small, gradual hill. I went a little faster, pulled back on the handlebars a bit (like I saw Axell do), and… well, I got a little air! It wasn’t much, but it was more than before. I have to admit, it felt pretty awesome.
I spent the rest of the day just practicing those small jumps and getting a feel for the bike.
I certainly didn’t pull off any crazy tricks like Axell, but I felt like I made some good progress.
I realized it takes a LOT of practice and skill to get to that level.

By the time I packed up, I was tired, sore, but also pretty happy. It was a fun day, and it definitely gave me a new appreciation for what riders like Axell Hodges can do. It’s way harder than it looks!
