Okay, so, let’s talk about this whole Andretti Cadillac thing. This was a real rollercoaster, let me tell you.

Andretti Cadillac in Formula 1: How will it shake up the sport? A deep dive into the teams potential impact.

It all started when I heard that Andretti Global, the big-shot American racing team, wanted to get into Formula 1. You know, the top of the racing world. And they were teaming up with Cadillac, which is a part of General Motors. I love racing, so I started to follow this event.

First, I dug up who Andretti Global is. Turns out they are already a big deal in IndyCar, Indy NXT, Formula E, and some other races. They were like, “Hey, we want a piece of that F1 pie.”

  • Then there was this whole drama about money.
  • Andretti offered to pay 200 million dollars to the other F1 teams.
  • They called it an “anti-dilution fee.”
  • It was supposed to make up for the fact that now 11 teams would be sharing the money instead of 10.
  • But the other teams were like, “Nah, that’s not enough.”

So, in January, the F1 bosses basically said, “No, thanks, Andretti Cadillac. We don’t think you’ll add value to our fancy racing club.” I felt a bit sad, I wanted to see an American team get in there.

Then things got a bit weird. Michael Andretti, the guy who was pushing this whole thing, suddenly backed off and let someone else take over. It was right before they were supposed to get approved, so the timing was super strange. I did some digging. There was also talk about Cadillac maybe going solo, ditching Andretti, and trying to get into F1 by themselves. What a mess!

But, get this, there was some hope! News came out from Las Vegas, of all places, saying there might be a breakthrough. Also, Mario Andretti, Michael’s dad and a legendary racer himself, was going to be a big part of the team if they got in.

And they were building this new place in Fishers, Indiana, for the F1 project, plus a smaller one in Silverstone, England. They were really going for it.

The Final Decision

Sadly, it did not work out for Andretti Cadillac to join F1 in 2026. But I heard Cadillac wants to offer engines in 2028. So, we might see them in F1 soon. It’s a bit of a bummer for now, but hey, things change fast in the racing world. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed to see an American team make it big in F1 someday. It’s not over yet! I will continue to follow this.
