So, I’ve been messing around with Threads, you know, that new app from Instagram. And I was really keen on getting that little blue checkmark, the verified badge. Figured it’d be cool to have, plus, you know, it adds a bit of, I don’t know, officialness to your profile.

First thing I did was hop onto my Instagram account. Because, get this, your verification on Threads is tied to your Instagram verification. Makes sense, I guess, since they’re like, sister apps or whatever.
I did a little bit of searching around. It turns out some people get verified automatically, especially with a lot of followers. I don’t have so many followers. So I know that is impossible.
So, I opened the Threads app and looked my profile. Nope, no blue checkmark there. That’s fine, that’s what I expected.
Then I think I should try to get verified through Instagram first.
I went into Instagram, hit the settings, then tapped “Account,” and then I saw this option that said “Request Verification.” Clicked that, obviously.

Then came the form. Ugh, forms. But this one wasn’t too bad. I had to fill in my full name, choose a category for my account (I went with “Blogger/Influencer,” seemed fitting). And I had to upload a photo of my ID. Passport, driver’s license, whatever works. Did that, double-checked everything, and hit “Submit.”
Then checked back my Threads account.
Bang! The blue checkmark appeared beside my name!
So yeah, that’s my little adventure with Threads verification. Not super complicated, but you gotta go through Instagram first. Worth it, I think. Makes me feel a little bit more legit, you know?
