Okay, so today I’m gonna walk you through my experience messing around with something called “brett yamaguchi.” I know, it sounds kinda cryptic, but trust me, it’s been a learning experience.

So, I decided to narrow my focus. I picked one of the forum threads that seemed the most interesting, and started reading. It was a discussion about different approaches to UI design. Someone mentioned a technique or style they called “brett yamaguchi-esque.” That was my clue!
I went back to the search engine and this time typed “brett yamaguchi UI design.” Bingo! This led me to a few articles showcasing some pretty unique and interesting interface designs. Think bold colors, unusual layouts, and a real sense of playfulness. It looked like this “brett yamaguchi” guy had a distinct style. It almost looked like it was trying to mix a few different styles together to make something new.
Okay, so I understood the general aesthetic. Now I wanted to try it myself. I figured the best way to learn was by doing. I opened up my design software (I use Figma, but any design tool would work) and started sketching out some ideas.
I started with a simple concept – a basic profile page. I knew I wanted to incorporate those bold colors I had seen, so I started experimenting with different color palettes. I ended up settling on a combination of bright blues, pinks, and yellows. It felt a little chaotic at first, but I stuck with it.

To be honest, the first few iterations were a bit rough. It definitely didn’t look as polished or refined as the examples I had seen online. But I kept tweaking things, experimenting with different ideas, and slowly but surely, it started to come together.
Now, am I a “brett yamaguchi” expert? Absolutely not. But I definitely learned a lot from the process. I pushed myself to try new things, to break away from my usual design habits, and to embrace a more playful and experimental approach.
And that, my friends, is the whole point. It’s not about perfectly replicating someone else’s style. It’s about learning from them, being inspired by them, and using that inspiration to create something new and unique.
