Okay, here’s my attempt at a blog post, following all your instructions:
So, the 2014 Japan Grand Prix. Man, what a race, but also, what a mess to figure out how to watch it properly years later!
First, I dusted off my old external hard drive. I knew I had some old races saved somewhere. I plugged it into my laptop and, yep, folders and folders of races from back in the day.
Digging Through the Digital Archives
Finding the right folder was the first hurdle. I mean, I had stuff labeled in all sorts of ways: “F1 2014”, “Races – Season 2014”, “Suzuka 2014″… you get the idea. My past self was not exactly organized.
Eventually, I stumbled upon a folder that seemed promising. It was just called “Japan GP 2014,” so, simple enough. I opened it up, and…BAM! A bunch of video files. But which one was the actual race?
- Some were clearly pre-race shows.
- Others were labeled “highlights.”
- And then there were these HUGE files with random numbers and letters.
I started by opening the biggest file. I figured, well, the race is long, so it’s gotta be the big one, right? Wrong. It was some behind the scenes, that was not full race.
Then I take a gamble on Highlights, it was too short.
After many test, I figured out the right file. I double-clicked, crossed my fingers, and…YES! The start of the 2014 Japanese Grand Prix. Sweet victory!
The Actual Viewing
The quality wasn’t perfect, of course. This was an old recording, after all. But it was good enough! I settled in with some snacks and relived the whole race, from the tense start to the, uh, well, you know… the not-so-great ending.
It was a trip down memory lane, for sure. Reminded me of how much I loved F1 back then, and still do. Also reminded me that I need to get better at organizing my files!
That’s all bro, I just want to record the race that I finally find the video of it and watch it.
