Getting Started

First things first, I found a decent one online. After some back-and-forth with the seller, I went to check it out in person. It was a bit rough around the edges, some minor scratches, but the engine sounded solid. After that, We haggled on the price a bit, and eventually, I rode it home.

First Impressions & Checks

Once I got it back to my garage, I gave it a thorough once-over. I checked the oil, coolant, and brake fluid – all the basic stuff.

  • Oil: Looked a little dark, so I knew a change was in order.
  • Coolant: Level was good, color seemed okay.
  • Brakes: Felt a bit spongy, so I planned to bleed them later.

I also inspected the tires. They were worn but still had some life left, I decided to hold off on changing those for now.

The First Ride (and a Few Surprises)

I took it out for a short spin around the block. The power was incredible! So raw and immediate. But I quickly noticed a few things:

  • The turn signals weren’t working.
  • The clutch felt a little grabby.

Fixing Things Up

Back in the garage, I started troubleshooting. The turn signals were a simple fix – a blown fuse. I replaced it, and they were good to go. The clutch, I adjusted it, by follow a video I found. That helped quite a bit, although it still feels like it might need new plates soon.

I also gave the bike a good wash and wax. It’s amazing what a little cleaning can do. It looked so much better.

Next Steps

I ordered some new oil and a filter. And I’m thinking about getting some new brake pads too. I rode it around a little more after and my feelings were right! I have to change them as soon as possible!

It’s definitely a project bike, but it’s a fun one. I’m really looking forward to getting it sorted out and enjoying some longer rides. It’s a beast of a machine, and I’m totally hooked!
