Okay, so I’ve been messing around with this old 1998 Mercedes, and let me tell you, it’s been a journey. I figured I’d share what I’ve been up to, just in case anyone else is crazy enough to try something similar.

The Beginning
First off, I found this thing sitting in a neighbor’s yard. It was covered in leaves and looked like it hadn’t moved in years. I asked about it, and turns out, they were just going to junk it. So, I offered them a couple hundred bucks, and boom, I had a project car.
Getting it Running
- The battery was deader than a doornail, so I jumped it with my truck. No luck.
- I replaced the battery with a new one. Still nothing.
- Then I checked the starter, and sure enough, it was fried.
- So, I yanked out the old starter, got a new one from the auto parts store, and slapped it in.
- Turned the key, and it fired right up! Sounded rough, but it ran.
Fixing it Up (The Never-Ending Part)
Getting it running was just the tip of the iceberg. This thing needed some serious TLC.
- I changed Oil and filter and all the fluids.
- I replaced all the spark plugs.
- And the Air filter.
- And all the belts.
Making it Mine
After all that work, she’s running pretty good! Still a lot to do, but hey, that’s half the fun, right? It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and I’m learning a ton along the way.
