So, about these Genshin birthdays. Yeah, I actually spent some time on this. Why? Well, I kept missing them, and you know, those little in-game mails are kinda neat. Plus, I was bored, needed something to fiddle with.

Getting Started – The Obvious Part

First thing, gotta get the data, right? So I went looking. Found a few places online, wikis and stuff. Copied them all down. Seemed simple enough. Just a big ol’ list of names and dates. At this point, it was just a messy text file on my computer. Real basic.

Trying to Make it Useful

But just a text file? Kinda lame. I thought, I could do better. Maybe. My first idea was just, you know, sort it. By date, obviously. That way I could see who’s next. So I opened up a spreadsheet. Yeah, fancy, I know. Started plugging everything in. Character name, birthday. Month, day. What a pain. All that clicking and typing. And you just know you’re gonna mess one up. Double-checking felt like a chore, but had to be done, I guess. Then I sorted it. Looked a bit better. At least it was in order.

A Little More Effort

Then I thought, maybe I can make it look a bit nicer. Or add some way to quickly see upcoming ones. I didn’t want to build a whole app or anything, that’s way too much work for this. I’m not some coding wizard. So I stuck with my spreadsheet. Added some colors, maybe. Highlight the current month, that sort of thing. Nothing groundbreaking.

I even considered making a separate list for each month. Like:

  • January: This person, that person
  • February: Someone else

But that seemed like more work to maintain if a new character dropped. So, one big sorted list it was. I did add a column for “Year” but since Genshin characters don’t really age in a noticeable way in-game with specific birth years, I just left that blank or put “N/A”. It was more for my own sense of order, I guess. Pointless, really.

The End Result?

So now I’ve got this… spreadsheet. It’s got all the Genshin character birthdays I could find, sorted by date. I can glance at it and see who’s coming up. Is it amazing? Nah. Did it take ages? Not really, just a bit of fiddling around. But hey, it works for me. I can quickly check it. Sometimes I still forget to log in on the day, but at least I know I forgot.

It’s just one of those little things, you know? You get an idea, you mess with it for a bit. Now it just sits there on my computer. Maybe I’ll update it when new characters come out. Or maybe I’ll forget about it. Who knows. But that was my little adventure into Genshin birthdays. Don’t expect anything too fancy.
