Woke up starving after swimming at Camp de Mar beach. My stomach growled loud enough to scare seagulls. Grabbed my phone, searching “food near me” like a man possessed. No fancy research, just pure hunger leading the way.

First Stop: The Beach Hut

Spotted it right by the sand. Looked sketchy, but smelled amazing – garlic and seafood punch. Ordered grilled sardines. Dude cooked them fresh on a tiny grill. Simple. Squeezed lemon, ate with my fingers. Messy. Perfect. Got fish scales on my shirt. Worth it. Cheap as chips.

Next Up: Hidden Tapas Bar

Stumbled upon this tiny place down a back alley. Almost missed it. Dark wood, locals arguing about football. Didn’t understand a word. Pointed at random things on the menu. Got these spicy potatoes (patatas bravas) and little sausages. Explosion of flavour. Spanish grandma in the kitchen glared at me smiling. Good sign. Drank cheap red wine. Happy.

Lunch Disaster? Almost

Tried finding a fancy place Google suggested. Got hopelessly lost down winding streets. Phone died. Panicked slightly. Saw a little square with plastic chairs – family restaurant vibes. Sat down exhausted. Ordered paella. Took forever, smelled incredible when it came. Huge pan, yellow rice, prawns, mussels. Shared it. Stained my fingers yellow. Glorious.

Beer Break!

Needed a cold one. Found a bar by the port. Old guys playing dominoes. Sat outside watching boats. Ordered Estrella Galicia beer. Crisp, cold. Perfect for sweating in the sun. No frills, just beer and sea views. Cheap and cheerful.

Evening Treat: Fancy(ish) Dinner

Wanted one nice meal. Found a place with white tablecloths near the marina. Felt a bit posh. Nervous about price. Ordered grilled John Dory fish. So tender it flaked apart. Simple olive oil, herbs. Expensive wine splurge. Hurt the wallet a bit, but that fish? Unreal. Worth the euros.

Late Night Snack Attack

Walking back, smelled something sweet. Tiny bakery open late. Glass counter full of pastries. Pointed at a flaky thing filled with custard – maybe a crema catalana pastry? Didn’t ask. Sat on a bench, ate it in three bites. Sugar rush. Perfectly messy end.

So yeah, that’s how I ate my way around Camp de Mar. Didn’t need fancy plans. Just walked, followed my nose, pointed at menus, and sometimes got lost. Worked out deliciously.
