Okay, so the rugby quarter finals were on. Knew I had to catch them, no question. It’s not every day you get that kind of action.

Getting Ready
First thing, had to clear the decks. Told the family the TV was mine for the weekend, pretty much. Got some grumbles, but hey, priorities, right? Went out early Saturday morning, grabbed the essentials. You know the drill:
- Chips, plenty of those.
- Couple of different dips.
- Drinks – kept it simple, some beers, some soda.
- Maybe some nuts or something, just to mix it up.
Got back, made sure the remote had fresh batteries. Nothing worse than scrambling for batteries mid-game. Found the comfy spot on the sofa, fluffed the cushions. Serious business, this. Checked the channel guide like three times just to be sure I knew where to find the matches. Didn’t want any last-minute panic.
Game Time
Alright, settled in for the first match. Dimmed the lights a bit. Phone on silent – mostly. You get caught up in it, you know? The back and forth, the big hits. You’re kicking every ball, making every tackle from the sofa. Felt completely drained after that first one, honestly. Proper intense.
Had a bit of a break before the next game. Stretched the legs, grabbed another drink. Then it was time to go again. Same routine. Settle back in, focus on the screen. This one felt different, different teams, different vibe. But just as gripping. Found myself shouting at the TV a couple of times, totally forgetting myself. neighbours probably think I’m nuts.
By the end of it all, felt like I’d played 80 minutes myself. knackered. The snacks were mostly gone, cans piling up. But worth it. Seeing those teams battle it out, proper commitment on the field. That’s what you watch for. Sunday was pretty much a repeat, just with different teams. Same prep, same intensity, same exhaustion afterwards. Good weekend of rugby, though. Solid viewing.
