So yesterday morning my buddy texted me asking when Bayern plays Leverkusen, and I totally blanked. Knew it was soon but couldn’t remember exact timezone stuff. Grabbed my half-empty coffee mug and plopped down at the laptop to figure it out properly.

The Frantic Browser Tabs Phase
First thing I did? Opened like six browser tabs like a maniac. Searched “Bayern Leverkusen kickoff today” because my brain was stuck on it being a weekend match. Google spat out stuff instantly, but here’s the problem – it showed times in what felt like ten different timezones. Saw 3:30pm, but no clue if that was German time or my local time.
Timezone Head-Scratcher
Realized I needed to convert properly. Pulled up two different timezone converter pages to cross-check. Screenshotted both just in case. Bundesliga schedule said 17:30 CEST. Did the math for Singapore time: added six hours? Or seven? Summer time thing got me second-guessing like crazy. Typed out this cheatsheet:
- Berlin folks: 5:30pm Saturday
- My sofa time: 11:30pm same day
- US buddies: Morning coffee football time
Streaming Wild Goose Chase
Then came the streaming hunt. Remembered my subscription expired last month – cue internal screaming. Dug through old emails from sports providers. Found one promoting “Der Klassiker” but needed to login to check access. Password reset shenanigans happened. Finally saw options: paid stream on sports channel or mobile highlights later. Texted my buddy “free streams are virus traps bro just pay the few bucks”. Saved login details this time. Probably.
Whole search took about twenty minutes start to finish. Moral of the story? Bookmark timezone converters before derbies. And maybe renew subscriptions before crunch time. Now gotta brew more coffee for that 11:30pm kickoff!
