So, I’d been kicking around the idea of catching a baseball game here in Charlotte for a while. You know, just to see what it’s all about, experience the local sports scene a bit. I’m always looking for something new to try out and then share how it went.

Figuring Out the Basics
First things first, I had to figure out who even plays here. A quick search told me it’s the Charlotte Knights, a Triple-A team. Alright, cool. Sounds like a decent level of ball, probably a fun atmosphere without the crazy prices of the big leagues. Then came the ticket part. I hopped online, navigated through one of those ticket websites. Honestly, the amount of clicking and a few extra fees always get me, but hey, that’s the game these days, right? I eventually snagged a couple of seats that looked pretty good without breaking the bank.
I made sure to check the schedule, pick a day that worked. I wasn’t too fussed about who they were playing, more about just going and seeing the setup.
Game Day: The Journey and Arrival
When game day rolled around, I decided to drive. The stadium, Truist Field, is right in Uptown. Now, if you know Charlotte, you know parking in Uptown can be a bit of an adventure. I left a bit early, circled around a couple of blocks. Found a garage that wasn’t too far a walk and didn’t charge an arm and a leg, relatively speaking. Paid up, and then it was a short stroll over to the ballpark.
Walking up to the stadium, it’s a pretty impressive sight. Looks modern, clean, and you can tell it’s well-maintained. Getting in was smooth enough, just a quick bag check and ticket scan. Standard stuff.
Inside the Park: Sights, Sounds, and Snacks
Once I was inside, I took a moment to just look around. It’s a nice park, for sure. They’ve got some great views of the city skyline from certain spots, which is a really cool touch. I found my section and my seat, which was comfortable enough for a few hours of baseball.

The atmosphere started building as more people came in. Lots of families, groups of friends, people just out to have a good time. That’s one of the things I like about minor league games, it usually feels pretty laid-back.
Of course, you can’t go to a baseball game and not get something to eat, right? I followed these steps:
- Walked around the concourse to see the options.
- Spotted the classic hot dog stand. Couldn’t resist.
- Grabbed a drink too, because it was a pretty warm evening.
The hot dog was, well, a ballpark hot dog. Did the job. Prices for food and drinks are what you’d expect at a sports venue – a bit on the higher side, but part of the experience, I guess.
The game itself was fun to watch. I’m not a die-hard analyst, but I enjoy the pace of baseball, the crack of the bat, a good defensive play. The crowd got into it, especially when the Knights made a good play or scored. There were the usual between-inning promotions on the big screen, music playing, all that jazz. It definitely keeps things entertaining.
Wrapping Up the Evening
After the last out, it was time to head home. Leaving the stadium was the usual shuffle of a crowd all trying to exit at once, but it moved along okay. The walk back to the car was pleasant enough, with the city lights and all. Getting out of the parking garage and onto the highway took a little patience, but nothing too bad.

So, that was my experience. Overall, a really solid way to spend an evening in Charlotte. It’s something I’d do again. If you’re thinking about it, I’d say go for it. Just be prepared for the usual stadium stuff – a bit of a crowd, paying for parking, and ballpark food prices. But the fun and the atmosphere? Definitely worth checking out for yourself.
