Okay, so today I was digging into sports betting, specifically trying to figure out what that “+” sign means when you see the odds listed. I’ve seen it a bunch, but never really got it, you know?

My Betting Research
First, I opened up a few different sports betting websites. Just kinda browsed around, looking at different games and matches, getting a feel for how they displayed the odds.
Then I started googling. Just simple stuff like “what does + mean in betting” and “betting odds explained”. I found a bunch of articles and guides, some more helpful than others. It took a bit of sifting to find explanations that weren’t full of jargon.
I learned that the “+” sign indicates the underdog. It shows how much you’d win if you bet $100. So, like, a +150 means you’d win $150 if you bet $100 and that team/player wins.
Putting It Into Practice
- I picked a random game, it could be anything.
- I looked at the team with the “+” odds. Let’s say it was +200.
- I did simple calculation in my brain. I will win $200 if I bet $100.
I thought about placing a small bet, just to see it in action, but I held off. I’m still learning, and it’s probably smart to get a bit more comfortable before I actually put any money on the line.
So, basically, today I figured out that “+” means underdog, and it tells you your potential winnings on a $100 bet. Baby steps, but I’m getting there!
