Alright, let me tell you about my day out at Eldo Golf Course. Felt like getting out, you know? Heard some buddies talking about Eldo, said it was a decent place to swing the clubs without breaking the bank, so I figured, why not give it a shot.

Woke up, grabbed my gear. The old bag’s seen better days, but she still holds the sticks. Drove over there, wasn’t too hard to find. Parking was alright, found a spot pretty easily, which is always a good start. Didn’t have super high expectations, just wanted to play some golf.

Getting Started

Walked up to the clubhouse, or whatever you call the main building there. Looked kinda dated, but clean enough. Went inside to pay the green fee. The person behind the counter was straight to the point, got me checked in quick. Didn’t need to rent anything, had all my own stuff. Decided to walk the course, skip the cart this time. Need the exercise anyway.

Headed out to the first tee. There were a couple of groups ahead, so had a little wait. Watched ’em tee off. Always interesting seeing other people’s swings, you know? Some good, some… well, less good. Finally, my turn.

Out on the Course

Stepped up, took a practice swing. Felt okay. Then, whack! Sent the first drive… not exactly where I wanted it, bit of a slice. Story of my life, right? But it was playable. That’s how the day started.

The course itself? It was… okay. Let’s be honest.

  • The fairways: A bit patchy in spots, but mostly fine. You could tell they try, but it’s not like those fancy private courses.
  • The greens: Rolled decently, maybe a little slow for my taste. Had a few putts lip out, frustrating stuff.
  • The layout: Pretty straightforward, not too many tricks. Some holes were kinda interesting, others just felt like back-and-forth.

Had some good shots, actually. Nailed a long iron onto one of the par 3s, felt real good. Made the par putt too. Then, on the next hole, duffed my chip like a total beginner. Golf, huh? It keeps you humble.

The weather was nice, bit of sun, not too hot. Pace of play wasn’t terrible, waited on a few holes but nothing too crazy. Saw a few other golfers, nodded hello, usual stuff. Everyone just seemed to be out there enjoying the day.

Wrapping Up

Finished up on 18. Tired legs from walking, definitely. Didn’t shoot my best round, didn’t shoot my worst. Just kinda… played golf. Headed back towards the clubhouse. Didn’t stick around for food or anything, just wanted to get home.

So, Eldo Golf Course. It served its purpose. It’s a place to play golf. It’s not gonna blow your socks off, but it gets the job done if you just want to hit the ball around for a few hours. Would I go back? Yeah, probably. It’s convenient, and sometimes you just need a no-frills round. That was my day out there.
