Okay, so let me tell you about this wild ride I had with my 2017 GSX-R1000. I’ve always been a speed freak, and this bike? Man, it’s a beast. I wanted to see what she could really do, to push her to the limit and find out her top speed.

I picked a long, straight stretch of deserted road out in the boonies—safety first, you know? I geared up, took a deep breath, and hopped on. The engine roared to life, a deep, throaty growl that sent shivers down my spine. I started off slow, getting a feel for the bike, the road, everything. Then, I started to open her up.
The acceleration on this thing is insane. It’s like being shot out of a cannon. I gripped the handlebars tight, feeling the wind rushing past me, the world blurring around me. The digital speedometer climbed faster than I could track – 60 mph, 80 mph, 100 mph… The bike handled like a dream, smooth and responsive, even at these crazy speeds. I was hauling ass on the highway.
- First attempt, I hit around 150 mph. Not bad, but I knew she had more in her.
- Second run, I pushed a bit harder, getting up to 165 mph. The adrenaline was pumping like crazy.
- But the third time was the charm. I tucked in, leaned forward, and gave it everything I had. The engine screamed, the wind roared, and the numbers on the speedo kept climbing.
Finally, I saw it. 173 mph! That’s what I’m talking about! It is as fast as hell! The feeling was incredible, exhilarating. I backed off the throttle, letting the bike slow down naturally. My heart was pounding, my hands were shaking, but I had a huge grin on my face. This was so cool, I almost did it.
So, yeah, that’s my story of hitting 173 mph on my 2017 GSX-R1000. It’s not something I do every day, but it’s an experience I’ll never forget. And for all the speed junkies out there, believe me, this bike delivers.
