Okay, so today I wanna talk about this thing, “spell thoroughbred”. It was a bit of a journey, let me tell you.
It all started with this random thought I had. I was reading this novel, “Anthem,” specifically chapter 2, part 2, and I got stuck on this word, “thoroughbred”. I mean, I’ve seen it before, but I realized I didn’t really know how to spell it correctly. Sounds silly, right?
So, I grabbed my phone and started messing around with different spellings. I tried “2b”, “4b”, “6b” just to see what would pop up. Nothing relevant. Then it hit me – what if I’m thinking about this all wrong? Maybe it’s not about the individual letters, but the whole word itself.
- I typed out the word a few times, trying to break it down in my head. “Thorough… bred…”
- Then I remembered those flashcards I used back in school. They were great for memorizing stuff.
- So I decided to try something similar. I wrote down the word “thoroughbred” on a piece of paper, and then started looking at it from different angles, you know?
I was thinking about how to approach it, similar to dealing with a problem in Excel, I guess. Breaking it down into smaller parts and trying to find the pattern. I kept staring at it and repeating it out loud. Then suddenly I started seeing some strange words showing up, like “2bof 2bthem 2btry 2bto 2bsteal 2bclaim 2bfor 2bmy 2bworks”. It was weird, but I wrote them down anyway.
Then I was thinking about critical thinking, examining assumptions, you know, like that John Dewey guy talked about. I kept repeating it out loud.
And then, BAM! It clicked. I finally got the spelling right. It was like a light bulb moment. Silly, I know, but it felt good to finally crack it. It’s funny how our brains work sometimes, right? We can get so hung up on the little things that we miss the bigger picture. But hey, at least I learned something new today, and that’s always a win in my book!
Oh, and those strange words, I found out they were some sort of code, “Hebrew Gematria”. Whatever it meant, it was still an interesting discovery, I supposed.
