Alright, so, I got into this whole PNC Championship thing, mostly because I heard about some golf pro, Matt Kuchar, teaming up with his kid. I mean, that’s kinda cool, right? A father-son duo hitting the greens together in a big-time tournament.

So, I started digging around. First thing, I looked up who this Matt Kuchar guy is. Turns out, he’s a pretty big deal in the golf world. Then, I found out his son, Cameron, is only 16! That’s just crazy to me, playing at that level at 16.
- Checked out some scores: I saw they shot a 58 in the first round, which, honestly, I don’t know a ton about golf scoring, but it sounded impressive. They were ahead by two strokes, whatever that means.
- Compared them to others: There was this other team, Annika and Will, also doing pretty well. And of course, Tiger Woods and his son were in the mix too. It’s like a whole family affair out there.
- Watched some highlights: Okay, this was fun. I found some clips of them playing, and it’s actually pretty neat to see how they work together. You can tell they have a good connection.
Then I learned it was a scramble format. I watched some videos to figure out what that is. I think I get it. They each hit the ball and pick the best shot. Teamwork!
I also saw that this wasn’t Matt’s first time in this championship. He played with another one of his sons, Peter, back in 2018. They didn’t win, but they finished in the top ten. Not too shabby.
Following the Tournament
I actually got hooked and ended up following the whole tournament. I watched as much as I could, checked the scores online, you name it. It was a good time, even for someone who’s not a huge golf fanatic.
In the end, seeing Matt and Cameron play together was the best part. It’s not every day you see a father and son competing at such a high level in a professional sport. It made me think, maybe I should call up my dad and see if he wants to hit a few balls around sometime. Who knows, maybe we’ll be the next big thing at the PNC Championship! Just kidding, but it was definitely a cool experience following along.
