Alright, let’s talk about finding that little rock guy, Bonsly, in Legends Arceus. Took me a little while to figure this one out, not gonna lie.

So, I needed Bonsly, I think it was for finishing up the Pokédex entry or maybe one of the villager requests, can’t remember exactly which now. My first thought was, okay, rock type, probably somewhere rocky. I spent some time just running around the Obsidian Fieldlands early on, near those cliffs and stuff, but no luck there. Just the usual Geodudes and Gravelers everywhere.
Heading to the Right Places
Turns out, I was looking in completely the wrong spots at first. You actually need to head over to the Crimson Mirelands. That’s where I had my first real success. Specifically, I started finding them more reliably in the area around the Celestica Ruins. There’s a slope there with a bunch of ore deposits. That’s the key.
Later on, I also found out they can appear in the Coronet Highlands too. Up near the Lonely Spring area, you can sometimes find them doing the same thing.
The Shaking Ore Trick
Now, here’s the thing that tripped me up initially. Bonsly doesn’t just wander around like most Pokémon. Nope, this little dude pretends to be an ore deposit! You’ll be walking past those blueish Tumblestone rocks, and sometimes, one of them will be physically shaking. Like, properly rattling back and forth.
It looks different from the regular sparkle that means items are inside. This is a proper shake. The first time I saw it, I thought maybe it was a glitch or something. I just chucked one of my Pokémon out like I usually do to break the ore for materials.

And BAM! Instead of Tumblestones, out pops this surprised little Bonsly! Startled me the first time, definitely.
- Look in Crimson Mirelands (near Celestica Ruins).
- Look in Coronet Highlands (near Lonely Spring).
- Keep an eye out for ore deposits that are visibly shaking.
- Throw your Pokémon at the shaking ore, not a Poké Ball directly.
Once you know what to look for – that specific shaking ore – it gets way easier. Just gotta patrol those areas, keep your eyes peeled for the shaky rocks, and toss out your partner Pokémon to break it open. Then you can battle and catch the Bonsly like normal.
So yeah, that was my journey tracking down Bonsly. Wasn’t super obvious at first with that whole hiding-as-a-rock thing, but once you spot one shaking, you know what’s up. Good luck finding yours!
