So I was chatting with my buddy Dave at the pub yesterday about crazy football seasons, when he goes: “Hey, which team actually won La Liga back in 2017-18? Was it still Barcelona?” Honestly? My brain froze. I knew Messi was balling that year, but the exact winner? Blank space. Felt like my mind’s filing cabinet slammed shut. So I slapped the table – “Right, gonna figure this out properly when I get home.”
Booted up my dusty old laptop later that night. Typed “Spanish La Liga 2017-18 final table” straight into the search bar like my life depended on it. First site popped up looked sketchy – ads flashing everywhere. Nope, closed that tab real fast. Second site seemed alright, loaded slow as Christmas though. Finally saw it – this messy grid with all 20 teams. Started scanning left to right. Saw Atletico Madrid down in 2nd place. Felt smug ’cause I remembered Griezmann tearing it up. Then my eyes went straight to the bottom – oof, Las Palmas and Malaga dead last, relegated. Hard times.
Kept crawling up row by row. Real Madrid? Snagged 3rd. Huh, lower than I’d guessed. Zidane was coaching then, right? Weird. Eyes finally hit the top spot. And bam – Barcelona, plain as day. 93 points! Messi banging in 34 goals, Suarez feeding him passes. Should’ve been obvious from the start. The whole process felt like digging through an old attic box just to find your favorite childhood baseball cap sitting right on top.
Coffee went cold while I stared at the screen, grinning like an idiot. Felt kinda silly sweating over something that obvious in hindsight. But hey, Barca ruled Spain that season. Case closed. Shouted it at my empty living room like I’d cracked the Da Vinci code.
