Okay, so yesterday I was messing around, trying to figure out if Quentin Johnston was actually worth the hype. You know, everyone’s been talking about him as a potential game-changer, but I needed to see for myself.

First thing I did was dive into some game film. I mean, I didn’t have access to the good stuff the scouts use, but YouTube is a goldmine, right? I started by just searching “Quentin Johnston highlights”. Sat there for a couple of hours, just watching his best plays. It’s cool to see the big catches and the speed, but that’s not the whole story.
Then I got a little more serious. I started looking for full game footage, focusing on games where he played against tough defenses. I wanted to see how he performed when things weren’t easy. I watched two full games that way. Painful, I know, but gotta do what you gotta do.
Next up, I tried to get a feel for his route running. This is where things get tricky, because just watching on film, it’s hard to tell what he’s supposed to be doing. So, I went digging for scouting reports online. Found a few decent ones that broke down his strengths and weaknesses.
One thing that kept popping up was his inconsistent hands. So, I went back to the film and specifically watched for drops. And yeah, there were a few that made me cringe. Not a deal-breaker, but definitely something to consider.
After all that, I started playing around with some mock draft simulators. There are tons of these online. I tried a few different ones, just to see where Johnston was typically being picked. It was interesting to see how the different simulators valued him.

Finally, I just started chatting with some buddies who are way more into football than I am. Got their opinions on Johnston, what they liked, what they didn’t like. It’s always good to get a different perspective.
So, after all that, what did I find out? Well, Johnston is definitely talented. He’s got size, speed, and the ability to make some amazing plays. But he’s also got some flaws. The drops are a concern, and his route running could use some work.
- Watched Highlight Reels
- Analyzed full game footage
- Read scouting reports
- Mock Draft Simulators
- Chatted with my sports buddies
Would I draft him with a top pick? Honestly, I’m still not sure. It depends on the team, the system, and what else is available. But he’s definitely a player to watch. That’s my take, anyway.
