Okay pals, let’s chat about this squishy balloon ghost, Killamari. Saw it floating around in my game and thought, “Looks weird, wonder what it actually does?”. Grabbed one to test out properly. Here’s what went down.

Catching One Was… Easy But Weird
First things first, needed a Killamari. Headed over to that Bamboo Grove area near the starting plateau. Spotted one almost immediately, just slowly bobbing along. Honestly, looked more like a lost party decoration than a Pal. Threw a basic Pal Sphere – popped right in first try, zero struggle. Stats were kinda low level, nothing special. Mostly neutral element.
Time To See What Skills This Blob Offers
Popped it out at my base near some stone and wood piles. Its partner skill is called “Inflatable Body”. Sounded funny. I ordered it to work. Here’s what happened:
- Stone Pit: Watched it try… kinda just wobbled near the rocks, did nothing. Oops. Not a miner.
- Wood Pile: Similar story. Bounced gently near the trees. Still no axe action. Definitely not for chopping.
- Planting Plot: Nudged it over to my berries. Just floated above the plants. Yeah, not a farmer either.
Started thinking maybe I caught a dud. Checked its skills page again. Ah! Transporting Level 1. Okay, maybe carrying stuff? Grabbed a stack of stone I’d mined earlier, dropped it on the ground near Killamari. Finally! It sorta…absorbed it? Didn’t seem heavy. Commanded it to follow me. It just floated alongside, stone inside. Useful for short moves maybe, but slow.
The Real Deal: That Active Bubble Skill!
Big lightbulb moment. Killamari’s active skill is “Air Cannon” – but it shoots bubbles, not air. Took it out hunting some lower level Pals like Lamballs and Cattivas.
Targeted a Lamball, fired the bubble. WHOOSH! Big bubble shot out, splatted on the Lamball… and instantly trapped it! It wasn’t damage, the Lamball was just stuck bouncing inside this big bubble. Couldn’t move, couldn’t attack. Held completely still! This was the key. It doesn’t hurt them, it traps them.

Started testing the bubble trap duration:
- Against level 1-5 Pals: Bubble seemed to last around 5-7 seconds before popping.
- Tried it on a level 8 Tanzee: Bubble popped faster, maybe 3-4 seconds? Higher level = less trap time.
- Threw it at a Bushi (oops): Bubble popped instantly on contact. Totally useless against stronger Pals or bosses. Learned that the hard way!
It’s perfect for pausing one enemy while you deal with others or lining up an easy capture throw. Once bubbled, they’re sitting ducks. Just walk up and toss a Pal Sphere at your leisure.
So… Is Killamari Good? The Verdict
It’s super niche. Won’t be mining your stone, won’t be watering your plants. Stats are meh. But that bubble skill? For early game catching, it’s actually brilliant:
- Easy Captures: Trap low-level Pals with the bubble, walk right up, throw a Pal Sphere. Super low-risk capture method.
- Crowd Control (Sorta): Need to run away? Bubble the chaser to create distance. Or bubble one annoying Pal in a small group to focus on the others.
- Feels Useful Early: When you’re weak and resources are scarce, that guaranteed stun helps avoid damage and save Pal Spheres.
Honestly, caught me off guard. Thought it was just a silly balloon. Found its secret sauce. Not an everyday Pal, but definitely worth having one in your early-game crew purely for that bubble trap trick. Just don’t expect it to fight anything tougher than a Chikipi!
