So I’m sitting here last Tuesday afternoon staring at my YouTube channel feeling seriously annoyed. Had this old video about fixing a leaky faucet that suddenly started getting views again – cool, right? But the title? Absolute garbage. Called it something lazy like “Water Fix.” Totally useless for anyone searching “how to stop kitchen faucet drip.” Needed to change it. Badly. Thought it would be simple. Ha. Big mistake.

Doing It All The Wrong Ways First
First thing I did, like a dummy, was just click on the video in my “Uploads” list. Opens up the video. See the title right under the video player. Okay, great. Naturally, I click directly on the title text itself, thinking a little edit box will magically appear. Nothing happens. Click again. Nope. Double click? Zip. Triple click? Still zilch. Just highlights the text like it’s teasing me. Frustration level: rising.
Fine. Maybe I need to go backstage. Clicked over to “YouTube Studio.” Found my video list. Found the leaky faucet video. See three little dots on the right side under where it says “Visibility.” Clicked those. Saw “Edit.” Clicked that. Hey! Opens a big page full of stuff. Description, tags, all that jazz. Found the “Title” box right at the top! Changed it! Typed in my beautiful new, keyword-rich title: “Stop Your Kitchen Faucet Drip Fast – Easy DIY Fix.” Felt pretty smug. Hit “SAVE” down in the right corner.
Checked my channel outside Studio. Title still showed “Water Fix.” Checked again 10 minutes later. Still old title. An hour later? You guessed it. Didn’t work even one bit. What gives?!
The Actual Secret Click They Don’t Tell You
Nearly threw my coffee cup at this point. Almost rage-quit. But nah, stubborn mode kicked in. Clicked back into YouTube Studio again. Back to my video list. Looked at my leaky faucet video thumbnail. And right then? I saw it.
The magic isn’t the three dots. Not “Edit.” It’s right on the title text itself… but only in this Studio video list view. Mouse over the actual title text? The mouse cursor changes! See the hand icon? Just… click directly on the title text right there in the list view of your videos.

- Boom! Title text becomes an editable field.
- Delete the old crappy title right there.
- Type your new, glorious, SEO-friendly title directly into that box.
- Hit Enter. Done.
Checked my channel page again instantly. New title was already live. Literally seconds later. It just works. No fancy “Save” button needed. No navigating deep into the edit panel. Click the title in Studio list view, change it, hit Enter. Mind blown and frustration to the max at the same time.
Why Is This So Weird?
Seriously, YouTube? Why hide the most straightforward way? Why let us waste hours poking around the “Edit” page like fools, saving stuff that doesn’t save, when the easy button was staring us in the face the whole time? Makes you wonder how many other obvious things are buried like dumb easter eggs. Makes the platform feel clunky for stuff you should do often. Ridiculous.
Anyway, wasted half my afternoon figuring this out because apparently, I needed to click on the exact right piece of text in the exact right place. Hope this saves someone else the headache. Just remember: Studio > Videos > Click the actual title text > Type > Enter. Done. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to angrily rename all my old videos.
