Then my phone buzzes. I usually try to ignore it when I’m in the zone, or trying to get into the zone, but this one had a headline preview that just kinda jumped out. Saw “NFL star” and “Las Vegas” and my first thought was, “Oh boy, here we go again.” Clicked it open without much expectation, and then I see it: Marshawn Lynch arrested. My brain kinda short-circuited for a second. Marshawn? Beast Mode? No way.
Well, That Threw Off My Morning
You can bet that spreadsheet got forgotten pretty quick. I mean, it’s Marshawn Lynch! Not exactly the guy you picture getting into cuffs. My immediate next step was, of course, to open a few more tabs. Had to see if this was legit, or just some garbage rumor mill working overtime. Started seeing it pop up on actual sports news sites, not just some random blog.
It’s weird, isn’t it? When you hear about someone like that, someone you’ve watched for years, known for just being a wrecking ball on the field and generally keeping to himself off it, mostly. It’s like, “Huh?” You sort of have this image of them, and then real life throws a curveball. Details were still coming out, but the headline itself was enough to make me stop what I was doing.

I probably spent a solid 20 minutes just reading different takes, seeing what little info was out there. You know how it is, one story leads to another, then you’re checking social media to see the immediate hot takes, which is always a mistake, but you do it anyway. My whole plan for a productive morning kind of went sideways. I was supposed to be deep into those numbers, but instead, I was deep into trying to piece together what happened with Marshawn.
Eventually, I had to just close all the tabs and tell myself, “Okay, back to reality.” It’s not like me reading about it was gonna change anything. But yeah, that was my Marshawn Lynch news experience. Started with a spreadsheet, ended with a whole lot of “WTF” scrolling. Just another day on the internet, I guess.
