So today I fired up Arnaz Battle for the first time, all excited but kinda nervous. My buddy kept bragging about his win streak, so I thought “okay, time to stop watching and start smashing buttons myself”. Grabbed my controller, took a deep breath, and loaded into training mode. Let me tell you, that floating dummy looked way too confident for something that doesn’t fight back.
Button Mashing Phase (Embarrassing)
Started hammering every button like a maniac – seriously went full toddler-on-a-keyboard mode. My character did some weird shuffle then fell on their butt. After five minutes of chaotic flailing, realized nothing connects when you spam randomly. Felt pretty stupid staring at the “combo counter: 0” on screen. Had to Google basic controls right there.
Lightbulb Moment With Basics
Finally understood you need timing, not aggression. Started practicing:
- Jab (tap light punch) for quick interrupts
- Crouching kick (down + kick) to sweep legs
- The basic 3-hit combo: light punch → medium kick → heavy punch
Took me fifteen tries to land that combo without the dummy blocking everything. Accidentally discovered special moves trigger with quarter-circle motions – felt like unlocking superpowers when fireballs actually shot out!
Realization About Defense
Hopped into my first live match against a bot. Immediately got juggled like a soccer ball because I forgot blocking exists. Learned fast that holding back on controller actually matters. Timing blocks feels like catching water balloons – too early or too late means getting soaked in damage. Added sidestep practice after eating five jump kicks in a row.

Sticking Points & Breakthroughs
Could NOT grasp throwing mechanics until I:
- Got thrown ten times by the bot
- Screamed at the TV
- Finally pressed light punch + light kick together near opponent
That “aha!” moment when the bot finally slammed on the ground made me do a victory dance that scared my cat.
Practice Regimen That Works
Now my daily routine looks like:
- 10 mins combo practice before matches
- Focus on ONE new skill daily (today it was anti-air attacks)
- Bot matches until I can execute without thinking
Key lesson? Stop trying fancy stuff before nailing fundamentals. After three days, my win rate went from pathetic to somewhat decent. You gotta crawl before you juggle, period.
Message To New Players
Seriously, JUST START. Don’t worry about tier lists or advanced tech. Pick a simple character, hit training, and embrace looking like a total noob. Every match makes you sharper. Three days ago I couldn’t land a single punch – now I’m doing fireball combos without looking at the controller. Best part? You already own everything needed to begin.
