Alright, so the other day I was digging around, trying to find some new tunes to jam to, and I stumbled upon this band called La Makina. Never heard of them before, but the name sounded kinda cool, right? Turns out, they’re a Puerto Rican merengue band from back in the 90s.
So, I started poking around, trying to figure out who these guys were. Found out that the band was put together by a couple of dudes named Fernando Colon and Orlando Santana. Apparently, Fernando used to play bass for another band called Los Sabrosos del Merengue. That’s all I could really dig up about them, but hey, it was a start.
Next, I went on a mission to find their music. This took a little bit of searching, but I managed to find a few of their songs. Let me tell you, it’s some pretty catchy stuff! It’s got that classic merengue vibe – you know, the kind of music that makes you want to get up and dance, even if you have two left feet like me.
- First, I listened to a track, that was super upbeat.
- Then I found another one, a bit slower, but still had that infectious rhythm.
I spent a good chunk of the afternoon just listening to their music. I found some tracks that I think were a big hit for them. The more I listened, the more I liked their sound. It’s got this energy that just makes you feel good, you know?
I couldn’t find much about what happened to the band – if they broke up or if some members left or whatever. Too bad. But it is clear that they were big at some point back in the 90s.
So yeah, that was my little adventure discovering La Makina. I went from knowing absolutely nothing about them to being a kinda-sorta fan, all in a few hours. It’s always cool to find new music, especially when it’s got a story behind it. I didn’t buy any of their albums, but I added some of their songs to my playlist for sure. I will keep an eye on what these guys do in the future or if they ever do a reunion.
