Okay so today I felt like digging into this whole Bruins announcer thing. Everyone’s talking about Jack Edwards maybe stepping back, right? Woke up, grabbed my coffee, and thought “Who could actually replace that guy? This needs figuring out.” So I just started poking around online, clicking everywhere.

Diving Into The Noise
First stop was obviously the Bruins fan forums. Man, talk about strong opinions flying everywhere! Everyone’s got their favorite, hates someone else. It’s messy. Took me ages just to sift through the shouting matches. Saw a bunch of names popping up repeatedly though, like Alex Faust, Dave Goucher, and that guy Andrew Raycroft who used to play goalie for them. Kept notes like crazy.
Then I jumped onto Twitter. Big mistake. Even more noise! Fans tagging possible candidates, arguing over styles – “We need energy!” vs. “We need knowledge!” Felt overwhelming. Scrolled forever, looking for real chatter, not just hot takes. Found a few media folks throwing around insider whispers, but nothing solid. More coffee needed.
Building My Own List
After getting lost in the online weeds, I sat down with my scribbled notes. Decided to make a proper list based on who fans keep mentioning and who actually has the background. Here’s what my initial pile looked like:
- Alex Faust: Lots of NHL experience calling games nationally, young guy. Fans like him, seems polished.
- Dave Goucher: The nostalgia pick! Did Bruins radio forever, knows the team cold. Doing Vegas TV now though, big job.
- Andrew Raycroft: Ex-Bruin goalie, already does studio stuff for them. Fans know his voice, knows the locker room vibe.
- Bob Beers: Been doing Bruins radio alongside Goucher way back and now. Deep Boston roots, familiar.
- A.J. Mleczko: Wildcard! Tons of praise for her national women’s hockey calls. Smart, passionate. Would fans accept a woman? Big question.
Stared at the list. Felt like I needed to narrow it down based on who’s actually possible and who’d fit Boston. Goucher’s got a top job in Vegas – pulling him back east would be huge. Faust seems ready for a big market play-by-play seat. Raycroft and Beers are right there, already in the building. Mleczko… she’s awesome, but Boston can be tough, you know?
Putting My Thoughts Out There
After staring at my screen way too long, I figured I’d just say what I think. Forget the perfect pick – who feels right to me?

- Dream Scenario: Luring Dave Goucher back from Vegas. That voice, that history? Perfect. But feels really unlikely. Vegas isn’t letting go easy.
- Realistic Favorite: Faust. He’s ready for a prime gig like Boston. Handles big games well, sounds professional without being boring. Low risk.
- Dark Horse: Raycroft. Bruins fans already know and trust him. He gets the city. Jumping from studio to play-by-play is a big leap, though.
- Outside the Box: Mleczko. She’d bring a totally different, brilliant energy. But I worry some of the old-school crowd wouldn’t even give her a fair shot, and that sucks.
So yeah, that’s how my brain fried today. Tons of gossip, tons of names, zero actual answers from the team. Makes you realize how weird broadcasting searches are. You can dig and guess, but in the end, it’s some execs in a room somewhere deciding who talks hockey to us every night. Weird. Faust feels like the safe bet, Goucher the wish, and Raycroft the interesting “maybe” for me. Time will tell!
