Okay, so the other day, I had some time and figured I’d mess around with one of those AI image things again. Just wanted to see what it would spit out with a really weird idea.

I opened up the usual program I use for this stuff, you know, the one where you type text and pictures pop out. Waited for it to load up, got the blank prompt box staring at me.
So, I just typed it straight in: grandpa eating paint. Yeah, I know, kinda dark maybe, but I was curious, right? Didn’t add any fancy styles or anything at first. Just the raw words. Hit the button to make it go brrr.
First Batch – Well, That Was Odd
It took a minute, like always. Then the first set of pictures came up. They were… well, they were something. Not super graphic, thankfully. More like, kinda blurry old dudes holding paintbrushes near their mouths, or sometimes looking confusedly at a can of paint. One looked like he had maybe blue stuff on his chin, but it wasn’t clear if it was paint or maybe blueberry pie. The AI seemed a bit hesitant, or maybe just confused about what I really wanted.
It wasn’t funny, wasn’t really disturbing either. Just kinda strange and low-quality. Like the AI decided to play it safe, which I guess is fair enough.
Trying to Make it… Weirder? Or Clearer?
I figured, okay, maybe I need to be more specific. Or maybe less? Let’s try again. I decided to tweak it a bit.
- Tried adding ‘photorealistic style’. That made things a bit more uncanny. The skin texture looked real, but the paint looked fake, or the pose was just unnatural.
- Tried ‘cartoon style’. That was maybe a bit better? Less creepy, anyway. Just looked like a silly drawing, which was probably closer to what you’d expect.
- Threw in ‘happy grandpa eating paint’. Don’t ask why. That just made it weirder. Smiling old guys with paint cans. Still felt off.
None of the results were really good or particularly interesting. They were just variations on ‘old man + paint can + slightly wrong’. The AI definitely understood the words, but the concept itself is just so out there, it didn’t seem to know how to make a compelling picture out of it.
So, What Did I Learn?
Well, mostly that feeding really weird prompts into these things doesn’t always give you gold. Sometimes it just gives you… weird. It definitely followed the instructions, but the result was just kinda meh. Didn’t save any of them, just closed the program.
Guess it just shows these tools are literal. Garbage in, garbage out? Maybe not garbage, but definitely ‘weird in, weird out’. Just another afternoon playing with the image maker, really. Moved on to trying to make pictures of dogs riding bicycles after that. Much more wholesome.
