So yesterday I finally sat down to hunt for those annoying TOTK Sage’s Wills, and man, it was a journey. Took me ages to figure out a decent way without pulling my hair out. This is how I did it, step by painful step.

Getting Started and Hitting a Wall
First thing? I grabbed Link, dusted him off, and warped straight to the nearest Sky Island shrine I hadn’t cleared yet. Figured, hey, sky stuff, might find a Will up there, right? Wrong. Spent a good hour climbing towers and gliding around like an idiot. Found Zonai charges, some rupees, cool wings… exactly zero Sage’s Wills. Total bust.
Switching Tactics & Wasting Time
Got annoyed. Decided maybe the Depths were hiding them. Dropped down a chasm near Lookout Landing, all brave-like. Immediately got my butt kicked by gloom hands. Ran away like a scared kid. Tried again later with more brightbloom seeds, lit up the place. Explored a bunch of those abandoned mines down there. Guess what? Nada. Found an old map, some poes, more gloom. Felt like a wild goose chase in literal hell.
The “Lightbulb” Moment & Grinding Like Mad
Was about ready to throw my controller when I remembered something online: Major Bosses. Specifically those big, nasty monsters that drop key items for Sage Upgrades. Decided to hunt those suckers down. Forget wandering aimlessly.
Here’s exactly what worked for me:
- Scouted the Depths: Went back underground, but smarter this time. Flew from lightroot to lightroot, scanning the map for those boss icons (you know, the big monster symbols).
- Picked Easy Prey: Targeted the Obsidian Frox first. They’re tough, but predictable. Bombs to the mouth, whack the ore deposits, repeat. Takes a few minutes per Frox.
- Got My Loot: Beat one Frox down, and boom! It dropped a “Sage’s Will.” Felt amazing. Like finally getting the cookie out of the jar after ten tries.
- Rinse and Repeat Like Crazy: Once I knew Frox worked? I became a Frox exterminator. Warped, flew found another lightroot near a Frox marker, repeated the whole bomb-whack-dance. Each Frox usually coughed one up. Took out 4 Frox in one grinding session.
What I Learned (The Hard Way)
So here’s the key takeaways from my headache-inducing day:

- DO NOT waste time exploring randomly. Sky islands? Surface caves? Forget it.
- DO target Major Bosses in the Depths. Obsidian Frox are the easiest farming targets. King Gleeoks and Flux Constructs III might drop them, but honestly? Just stick with the Frox.
- DO prepare: Lots of hearts, gloom resistance food helps, tons of brightbloom seeds for light, and your favorite weapons/bombs.
- DO NOT try fighting Phantom Ganon hoping for a Will. Beat him once, nada. Just save yourself the pain.
Took me probably five hours of messing around and raging before I locked onto the Frox farming method. After that? Piece of cake. Got four Wills in about an hour and a half. Could’ve saved a lot of time if I’d known this upfront. Hopefully this saves you some controller-throwing moments. Go hunt some Frox!
