Alright, let’s talk about these Beats Tour 2 earbuds. I got my hands on a pair, thinking, you know, “Beats, gotta be decent for walking around, something with a bit of punch.” That was the plan, anyway.

Getting Started with the Tour 2

So, I unboxed them. First impression? They looked the part, definitely. That classic Beats styling, the flat cable which they said would be tangle-free – spoiler, it still found ways to knot up, but less than round ones, I’ll give ’em that. Popped them in my ears, and the fit was okay, came with a bunch of ear tip sizes. I fiddled around for a bit until they felt snug enough.

Then, I plugged them into my phone. Time for the real test. Queued up some tracks with good bass, ’cause that’s the Beats signature, right? And yeah, the bass was definitely present. Like, a lot of it. Sometimes it felt like it was trying to shake my eyeballs out. Mids and highs? They were there, somewhere behind the thump-thump.

My “Practice” – The Daily Grind

I used them daily for my commute, for workouts. My “practice” was basically seeing how they’d hold up. For a while, they were fine. Not amazing, sound-wise, if you’re super picky, but they did the job. They stayed in my ears pretty well during jogs, which was a plus. The little wingtip things helped with that, for sure. I even took a few calls on them, and people said they could hear me okay, so the mic wasn’t terrible.

But then, things started to get… interesting. This is where my real “practice” with them began, the part where you try to figure out what’s going wrong.

  • First, I noticed the cable, near the jack, started to feel a bit flimsy. I’m not rough with my gear, but it just seemed to be a weak spot.
  • Then, after maybe, I don’t know, six or seven months? The sound in the right earbud started to cut in and out. Classic earphone problem, right?

So, I started the usual routine. Wiggled the cable. Yep, that sometimes brought the sound back. So, it was definitely a connection issue somewhere in that wire. My “practice” now involved carefully positioning the cable every time I used them. Real convenient, let me tell you.

The Inevitable Decline

I tried to be gentle with them, really babied that cable connection. But it just got worse. The periods where the right earbud worked got shorter and shorter. It was like a slow, sad farewell. I remember thinking, “These weren’t exactly cheap, you know?” You expect a bit more. My “practice” in patience was certainly being tested.

Eventually, that right earbud just decided to pack its bags and leave for good. Silence. Kaput. So now I had a one-eared pair of Beats Tour 2. Not quite the “tour” experience I was hoping for. More like a detour into frustration.

So, what did I learn from this whole “practice”? Well, they looked cool. The bass was heavy. But the longevity, man, that was the kicker. They just didn’t last. They’re sitting in my “graveyard drawer” now, along with other tech that promised a lot but didn’t quite deliver. It’s a common story, I guess. You live, you listen, you learn.
