Setting Up My Racing Test Session
Okay so I finally downloaded Gear Club True Racing yesterday. Kept hearing folks say it’s good for racing fans, so figured I’d try it myself. After that loooong wait for the install – seriously, felt like watching paint dry – fired it up on my phone first. Wanted to see if the mobile version held up.

Started digging through the garage menu immediately. Huge plus there – they actually throw a bunch of licensed rides at you quick. No grinding for weeks just to unlock one decent car. Got myself a BMW i8 coupe pretty much right away. Nice surprise! Visuals looked crisp, textures on point. Definitely got that “premium” feel just messing around in the garage.
Putting The Pedal To The Metal
Jumped into my first race in the desert. No complicated options, just tap to start and go. Steering felt… different. Not hyper-realistic simulator stuff – more like a solid arcade racer that actually needs skill. Used the tilt controls mostly:
- Took a sharp turn too fast and spun out – felt realistic without being super punishing.
- Nailed the throttle coming out of a curve – that moment it kicks in felt satisfyingly powerful.
- Rammed an opponent near the finish line – got a solid speed boost that actually helped me win.
Honestly, wiping out felt as fun as winning sometimes. Physics felt meaty enough without being a headache.
Getting Serious About the Races
Unlocked the Laguna Seca track later. Big moment – my favorite real-life track! Instantly recognized the corkscrew section, and taking it felt surprisingly accurate for a mobile title. Still had that fun arcade vibe, but the turns felt like they mattered.
Noticed the AI changed too:

- Early races? Opponents mostly stuck to their lanes, felt manageable.
- Unlocked “Elite” series? Things got real aggressive. Had to actually plan overtakes carefully.
Started tweaking my steering sensitivity way up to react quicker. Made all the difference diving into tight corners late.
Why Racing Fans Are Hooked
After spending hours testing tracks and cars, see why fans dig this:
- Massive real-world car list ready to drive almost instantly. Feels respectful to fans.
- Racing that rewards skill without demanding perfection. No rage quitting every five minutes.
- Looks and sounds the part – engine noises had me turning up the volume on my headphones even indoors.
It nails that “easy to pick up, rewarding to master” feeling. Plus the organized events? Keeps things fresh.
Is it perfect? Nah. But for fans wanting real tracks and real rides wrapped in super fun racing, this totally delivers. Now excuse me – I gotta beat my time on the Nürburgring!
