Alright so today I wanted to figure out how tall Floyd really is. You know how it is, you hear different numbers everywhere and it gets confusing. Like, is he taller than me? Shorter? Who knows!
Starting Simple (And Probably Wrong)
First thing I did? I just googled “Floyd height”. Simple, right? Boom. A ton of websites popped up. But guess what? Half said 5’8″, others said 5’9″. Some even claimed 5’7″! My brain just froze. Which one is it? How can something so basic be so messy?
I figured maybe it depends on which Floyd? You know, like Floyd Mayweather the boxer? Or maybe Floyd from that one show? But the user didn’t specify, and honestly, most people probably mean Mayweather when they just say “Floyd” in this context. So I stuck with the boxer.
Getting My Hands Dirty
Okay, google wasn’t cutting it. Time for a different angle. I remembered seeing him stand next to other fighters. Like Conor McGregor. I know McGregor is officially listed as 5’9″. So I dug up photos. Lots of them. Press conferences, weigh-ins, face-offs. Side by side.
My observation? In most pictures, they looked super close in height. Sometimes Floyd looked maybe a tiny, tiny bit shorter. Sometimes dead even. It was frustrating! Like, is one of them wearing thicker shoes? Is someone slouching? My eyes started crossing.

- His own promotional stuff sometimes said 5’8″, sometimes nothing

I started wondering if anyone actually measured him recently, or if everyone was just copying old, maybe wrong info. It felt like playing telephone with numbers.
Giving Up (Sort Of) And Picking A Side
After wasting way too much time on this, I had to make a call. Based on:
- The photos with McGregor (mostly looking slightly shorter)
- The fact that most sources, even the messy ones, lean towards 5’8″
- My own eyes getting tired of squinting at pixels
I decided the simplest answer, the one that causes the least arguments, is probably 5 feet 8 inches (or 173 cm if you think in centimeters).
Is it 100% guaranteed? Nope. Could he be 5’8.5″ on a good day? Maybe. But for everyday talk, “he’s about 5 foot 8” seems close enough. Trying to be more precise just leads down a rabbit hole of arguing about camera angles and shoe lifts. Not worth the headache.
So yeah, that’s my journey. Went from confused googling to photo analysis to source-checking madness, all to land on… basically the first number I saw, but now I feel slightly better about it. Still kinda dumb how hard it was for something so basic. Guess I’ll never truly know unless I stand next to him myself!
