Okay, so today I wanted to work on my first touch, you know, get a better feel for the ball. I’ve been feeling a bit clumsy lately, so I figured some focused drills would do the trick. Here’s how it went:

Setting Up
First, I grabbed my ball and headed out to the backyard. It’s not a huge space, but it’s enough to get some basic touches in. I didn’t bother with cones or anything fancy – just me, the ball, and a bit of grass.
The Drills
I started with some simple stuff:
- Inside-of-the-foot taps: Just passing the ball back and forth between my feet, focusing on keeping it close and controlled. I did this for about 5 minutes, trying to get a good rhythm going.
- Sole rolls: Rolling the ball with the bottom of my foot, forward and backward, then side to side. This one’s good for getting a feel for the ball’s movement. Again, about 5 minutes of this.
- Wall passes: I have a brick wall in my backyard, perfect for this. I started close, just a few feet away, and practiced passing the ball against the wall and controlling it with my first touch. I used both feet, inside and outside of the foot. I gradually moved further back to increase the challenge.
Increasing The Intensity
After the wall passes, I added more difficult drills.
- Receive and Go.I threw the ball in the air. Then I received and controlled the ball.I tapped the ball with my feet to run.
Wrapping Up
I spent about 30 minutes on these drills. By the end, my legs were feeling it a bit, and my touch definitely felt sharper. It wasn’t anything revolutionary, but it was a good reminder that even simple drills can make a big difference. I’m planning to do this a few times a week to keep improving.
It’s not about being perfect, it’s about putting in the work and gradually getting better. And honestly, it’s just fun to kick the ball around!
