Okay, so I finally got around to playing the Fazio Course at Palmetto Dunes. I’d heard good things, and man, it didn’t disappoint. I’m going to walk you through my whole experience, from booking to that last putt.

First things first, I booked a tee time online. It was pretty straightforward. I just went to their website, picked a date and time that worked for me, and paid. Easy peasy.

Getting There and Getting Ready

The day of, I drove over to the course. It’s in a beautiful area, really lush and green. I checked in at the pro shop, and the staff was super friendly. I’d already paid, so it was just a matter of picking up my scorecard and getting the lowdown on any course conditions.

I headed to the driving range to warm up. I’m not the best golfer, so I needed to get some practice swings in. I grabbed a bucket of balls and started hitting. I focused on my irons first, then moved on to my driver. My driver can be a bit…unpredictable…so I wanted to make sure I had it somewhat under control.

Hitting the Course

After warming up, I met up with my playing partners at the first tee. We introduced ourselves, and we were off! The Fazio course is known for being challenging, and it definitely lived up to that reputation.

  • The fairways are pretty narrow in spots.
  • There are a lot of bunkers strategically placed.
  • The greens are fast and undulating.

I started out a little rough. I think I was just nervous. But after a few holes, I settled down and started playing some decent golf. I even managed to par a couple of holes, which is always a good feeling.

Around the middle of the round, I stopped at the halfway house for a quick snack and a drink. I grabbed a hot dog and a Gatorade. It was a nice little break, and it gave me a chance to recharge before tackling the back nine.

The Back Nine and Finishing Up

The back nine was just as challenging as the front. I had some good holes and some not-so-good holes. That’s golf, right? But overall, I had a really enjoyable time.

I finished my round, and sadly, I will not be sharing my score. We shook hands with my playing partners, and then I headed back to the clubhouse.

I turned in my scorecard, and browsed the pro shop for a bit.

Before I heading home, I decided to grab a drink at the clubhouse.

All in all, it was a great day. The Fazio Course is a fantastic track, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a challenging but rewarding round of golf. I’ll for sure be back again soon!
