Right, so, that Rangers double header. What a day, seriously. Decided to catch it pretty last minute, thinking, hey, two games for the effort of one trip, sort of. Getting the tickets, well, that was its own little adventure. You’d think in this day and age it’d be smooth, but no, website kept glitching. Finally snagged a couple, but already felt like I’d played a few innings.

Getting There and Settling In

The journey to the stadium was the usual circus. Traffic, finding parking that didn’t cost an arm and a leg – you know the drill. We got in, found our seats. Not bad, not amazing, but good enough to see the action. The buzz was already there, you could feel it. People all decked out in their gear, a good vibe mostly.

First game kicked off. Our guys, the Rangers, they looked sharp at the start. Made some good plays, got a few runs in. But then, classic baseball, things started to get a bit… unpredictable. Errors creeping in, the other team finding their groove. It was a rollercoaster, I tell ya. One minute you’re cheering, next you’re groaning. Standard stuff, really, but always gets you.

The In-Between Bit

Then came the break between games. This is where the “double header” experience really sinks in. You’re kinda stuck, right? Too long to just sit there, too short to really go anywhere. We wandered around a bit. Grabbed some food – ridiculously priced, as always. A hot dog that cost more than my lunch on a regular day. But hey, part of the experience, I guess. Stretched the legs, watched the grounds crew do their thing. It’s an odd sort of limbo.

  • Tried to find a less crowded spot for a bit. No luck.
  • Debated getting another drink. Decided against it, needed to stay sharp for game two. Or try to.
  • Just people-watched. Always interesting at a ball game.

Game Two: The Marathon Continues

Then it was time for the second game. Honestly, by this point, you start feeling it. The sun, the cheering, just sitting there for hours. The energy in the stadium was a bit different too. Still fans there, but maybe a little more subdued. Some folks had clearly had enough and headed home. Can’t blame them, it’s a long haul.

The game itself, well, it was another game of baseball. More ups, more downs. Our Rangers, bless ’em, they fought. But it felt like a slog. We were all getting a bit weary, I think. You really gotta love the game to stick out a full double header. We did, though. Saw it through to the end. Not sure if it was stubbornness or just wanting to get our money’s worth.

Heading Home, Finally

Leaving the stadium after the second game was… an exodus. Everyone tired, probably a bit grumpy if their team didn’t do well overall. The drive home felt even longer. Got back, flopped onto the sofa, and just felt drained. But, you know, it was an experience. Did I enjoy it? Yeah, mostly. Would I rush to do another double header soon? Probably not. It’s a young person’s game, maybe. Or at least, someone with more stamina than me these days. Still, chalk it up as one of those things you do. And now I can say I’ve done it. That’s something, right?
