Alright, guys, so I’ve been messing around with something kinda cool lately and I wanted to share the whole messy process with you all. It’s about “cod waw maps”, getting those custom maps running on Call of Duty: World at War.

Getting Started
First things first, I had to, you know, actually find some maps. I’m talking about maps that aren’t already in the game, fan-made stuff. And let me tell you, the search it was kind of like digging through an old attic.
I finally stumbled across some decent-looking * a couple that caught my eye – one was a spooky, overgrown factory, and the other was a recreation of some classic map I vaguely remembered.
The “Installation” Struggle
Now, I thought this would be easy. Just drop the files in the game folder and boom, right? Wrong. Turns out, there’s a specific way to do it. I fumbled around for a bit, trying different folders, renaming things randomly (don’t do that, by the way).
So, here’s the trick, After much Googling: you gotta put the map files in a very specific * is named “mods”.
Into the Game!
Okay, maps installed (finally!), time to actually play them. I fired up World at War, feeling pretty good about myself. Went to the “Mods” menu, selected the map I wanted, and… it loaded!

The factory map was my first try. Man, it was creepy. Way darker and more detailed than the standard maps.
I ran around for a bit, checking out the layout, getting jumped by zombies in the tight * felt familiar yet totally different.
Then I switched to the recreation * instantly realized it’s really great. It all came flooding back – the sniper spots, the choke points, the places where I used to get totally owned. Good times, good times.
Final Thoughts
So, yeah, that’s been my little adventure with custom maps in World at War. It’s a bit of a hassle to get set up, but honestly, it’s worth it to breathe some new life into an old game. If you’re a fan of the game, and you’re looking for something different, definitely give it a shot. Just be prepared for a bit of trial and error. And hey, if I can figure it out, anyone can!
