Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of buzz about the BMW F900 lately, and I finally decided to take the plunge and get some hands-on experience. Let me tell you, it was a ride – literally and figuratively!
Getting Started
First things first, I needed to find one. I checked out a few local dealerships and finally found a used F900R that looked pretty clean. It wasn’t brand new, but it had low mileage and seemed well-maintained. After a bit of haggling, I got what I thought was a decent price, and bam! I was the proud owner of a used F900R.
The First Ride Jitters
I’m not gonna lie, I was a little nervous. This bike has some serious power. I’ve ridden before, but mostly smaller bikes. I spent a good hour just sitting on it in my garage, getting a feel for the controls, the weight, the balance… you know, the basics.
Hitting the Road
Finally, I was ready. I geared up, took a deep breath, and started her up. That engine rumble… oh boy. I eased out of the driveway and onto the street. The first few miles were all about getting comfortable. Gentle acceleration, smooth braking, just feeling how the bike responded to my inputs.
Opening Her Up
Once I got out of the city and onto some open roads, it was time to see what this thing could really do. I gradually opened up the throttle, and whoa! The acceleration is something else. It’s not jerky or abrupt, just a smooth, powerful surge that pins you back in the seat. I didn’t push it too hard, but I definitely got a taste of the F900’s potential.
Handling and Comfort
One thing that really impressed me was the handling. It felt incredibly nimble and responsive, even at higher speeds. The suspension soaked up the bumps nicely, and I felt confident leaning into corners. The riding position is fairly upright, which I found pretty comfortable, even after a couple of hours in the saddle. I need more try on this part.
What I’ve Learned So Far
- Respect the power: This bike is no joke. It demands respect and a steady hand.
- Get comfortable: Spend time getting to know the bike before you push it hard.
- Enjoy the ride: The F900 is a blast to ride. It’s powerful, agile, and comfortable.
It’s still early days, and I’ve got a lot more to learn about this machine. But my initial impressions are overwhelmingly positive. I’m looking forward to many more miles and adventures with my F900R.
