Okay folks, got another game session to unpack today. Been grinding for that Double XP weekend everyone’s buzzing about in Black Ops 6. Let me tell you what actually went down.
Getting Prepped
First things first, I had to make sure everything was ready. I saw the notification pop up right on the main menu – big yellow letters flashing “Double XP Event Live”. Cool! I checked the time left: still had a solid 36 hours. Enough time, I figured.
Before jumping in, I quickly swung by the Barracks to check my rank progression. I was sitting at Level 42, itching to crack Level 50 before the reset. Had a few guns half-leveled too – the new Tac Rifle needed some love.
Grabbed my usual setup: cold soda on the desk, headset charged, and my comfy chair. Figured Shipment 24/7 would be the fastest way to farm kills, even if it’s pure chaos. Loading into that map is like stepping into a blender.
The Grind Begins
Spammed “Quick Play” until Shipment came up. First few matches were rough. Got dropped into games already halfway done. Felt like I was running headfirst into a wall of bullets every spawn. Teammates? Not exactly chatting much.
- Round 1: Got totally steamrolled. Like, enemy team had streaks active constantly. My K/D was awful. Managed maybe a couple weapon levels though.
- Round 2: Found a tiny corner near a crate, decided to camp like a rat for a minute. Felt dirty, but hey, got 5 quick kills before someone cooked a perfect grenade. Saw the XP ticks fly in faster than usual. Progress.
- Round 3: Finally got a groove. Focused purely on spraying bullets down lanes. Didn’t care if I died, just needed hits and tags. Started seeing the level bar actually move.
Switched game modes after an hour. Hardpoint on Scrapyard. More structure. Played the objective hard. Died constantly throwing myself on the point. But wow… each capture? Big chunk of XP. Each kill near the point? More bonus. Levels started climbing noticeably.
Hitting the Wall (And Some Bugs)
Around Level 47, things got messy. Game crashed out of nowhere. Black screen. Felt my stomach drop. Relaunched, held my breath. Thank goodness it kept my progress. Back in. Then, the lobby started getting sweaty. Full of players bunny hopping around corners. Took longer to find matches. Lag spikes hit too. Felt frustrating pushing through those final few levels.
Ran into something weird: equipped the weapon I wanted to level up, but seemed like only the main weapon XP was doubled, not the camo progression? Might be wrong, but felt slower.
The Payoff
Finally, after what felt like a hundred respawns (probably just 4 hours total), it happened. That sweet Level Up animation hit. Hit Level 50! Unlocked the Prestige challenge. Hopped into my loadout and saw the guns I focused on had gained multiple levels too. That Tac Rifle went from needing ages to finish to suddenly being nearly maxed.
Checked the total session time after logging out: clocked in about 4.5 hours. Made more progress than I usually do in like, two weeks of casual play. Worth the grind? Absolutely. Felt good seeing those bars move so fast, even with the crashes and sweats.
TL;DR: Double XP weekend means putting in the playtime. Play modes with objectives, don’t sweat dying, push through the lag and crashes. The extra levels are real. Just wish the camos were boosted too!
