Okay guys, here’s how I finally managed to track down those annoyingly rare Rockruff with special forms. Seriously, I almost gave up on finding them near me.
Started Simple & Got Nothing
First, I just opened up the app like usual during my dog walk. Figured I’d casually check nearby stops and spawns. Nope. Nothing special, just the usual Pidgeys and Bidoofs lurking around my block. Felt kinda pointless after a whole week of this.
Upping My Game (And Steps)
So last Tuesday, I got serious. Grabbed my big power bank, put on my comfy sneakers, and decided to camp out at the park downtown where stops are packed together.
- Set Lures on THREE stops at once – used my saved up modules.
- Popped an Incense just in case walking between the lured spots wasn’t enough.
- Kept checking the “Nearby” tracker constantly, like borderline obsessively.
Man, my thumb was scrolling non-stop. Saw lots of Rockruff, yeah! But the special ones? Nada. Regular ones everywhere. Frustrating! Started thinking maybe my area just sucked.
The Local Chat Tip That Saved Me
I almost packed it in Thursday morning when Bob from our neighborhood Discord pinged. Said he spotted a special Rockruff pattern near those industrial warehouses south of the riverbank – the weird area we usually ignore because phone signal drops.
Figured I had nothing to lose. Drove down, parked illegally for like 15 minutes (shh!).

- Spotty GPS? Turned off WiFi and restarted the app. Helped lock location better.
- Weather in-game switched to Partly Cloudy just after noon. Bingo! Rockruff should be boosted.
And there it was! Not one, but TWO special Rockruff spawned right next to this rusty old silo! The Pokéball actually shook THREE times on the second one – thought I’d lose it. My hands were sweating! Caught ‘em both after wasting way too many Ultra Balls.
What Actually Worked (For Me)
So forget casual walking. If you want those special ones locally:
- Check unpopular industrial/commercial zones with weird spawns. Forget just parks.
- Local Discord/FB groups are key. Someone else’s boring commute spot might be your jackpot.
- Weather Boost matters. Seriously camp that weather icon.
- Reset your GPS if the map feels empty. Restarting the app works like magic sometimes.
Felt like winning the lottery honestly. Now excuse me while I brag to Bob about the CP on that second catch.
