Okay, so I had this crazy idea to drive from Norfolk to Durham. I’d never done a road trip like that before, just spontaneously deciding to hit the road. It sounded fun, and, well, I needed a break.
First things first, I checked my car. You know, made sure the oil was good, tires were inflated, all that basic stuff. Didn’t want to end up stranded somewhere in between. My car’s pretty old, so I’m always a little paranoid.
Then I grabbed a map. Yeah, I know, I’m old school. I like having a physical map, even though I have GPS on my phone. I just like to see the whole route laid out. Plus, sometimes my phone dies or loses signal.
The Drive Itself
- I started early, like 6 AM. Wanted to beat the traffic, especially getting out of Norfolk.
- I made a playlist. Mostly upbeat stuff, some classic rock, a little bit of everything. Gotta have good tunes for a road trip.
- Stopped for gas a couple of times. And coffee. Lots of coffee.
- The scenery wasn’t super exciting, to be honest. Lots of highways and trees. But it was still relaxing, just being on the open road.
- Made one major pit stop. Grabbed some sandwish for lunch and stretched my legs.
Finally, I rolled into Durham. The sun had set, and I found a parking spot near my accommodations. Exhausted, I eagerly stepped out of the car, stretching my stiff limbs. The city lights illuminated the streets, and I felt a sense of accomplishment.
It wasn’t the most thrilling adventure, but it was exactly what I needed. Just a simple drive, some time to myself, and a change of scenery. Would I do it again? Maybe. Maybe next time I’ll pick a route with more interesting stops along the way.
