My First Disaster Fight
Seriously underestimated these big metal lizards. Saw some fancy YouTuber say Adamant Dragons were “manageable” with basic gear. Wrong. Totally wrong.

Grabbed my usual stuff:
- +15 Sharp Steel Sword
- Decent Chainmail (found it in a dungeon)
- Stamina Potion (cheap ones)
Ran straight at one outside Obsidian Peak. Big mistake. That first tail swipe took out half my health bar before I even got close. Tried to block, useless. It just slammed down again, and boom. Grey screen. Character eating dirt. Felt stupid.
Back to The Drawing Board (aka My Bank)
Fine, needed better gear. Asked around in guild chat. Got flooded with opinions, mostly conflicting. Dug through my bank vault:
- +18 Dragonbone Axe (slow, but hits hard)
- +25 Fire-Resist Heavy Plate (looked clunky)
- Stacks of Major Healing Potions
- Some weird Frost Amulet I forgot I had
Figured: Fire Resist Plate for obvious dragon reasons. Frost Amulet might slow it down? Worth a shot. Dragonbone Axe because, well, dragons.
Test Run Number Two – Less Dying
Found a lone Adamant Dragon near the Lava Flows. Nervous. Gulped a stamina potion beforehand. Walked, didn’t run this time. Got its attention. Immediately breathed fire. Saw my health dip… then stop! The Fire Resist plate actually worked! Felt amazing.

Swing that Dragonbone Axe. Hit like a truck, but man, so slow. The dragon kept staggering me after every swing. Frost Amulet barely helped. Still took forever to whittle it down. Needed ages to react to its wind-up tail attacks. Won, but barely. Used three Major Potions. Too expensive for regular farming.
Finding The Sweet Spot
Okay, needed faster hits to avoid the staggers, but still needed good protection and fire resist. More bank diving. More guild questions (ignoring the trolls this time). Settled on this setup for another try:
- +30 Dragonbane Shortsword (Fast! Bonus dragon damage!)
- +20 Obsidian Shield (Good block, decent fire resist)
- That same trusty +25 Fire-Resist Heavy Plate
- Frost Amulet traded for a simple Strength Ring (+4 STR for more oomph)
- Major Healing Potions (Accepting the cost now)
Final Loadout & Why It Works
Third time’s the charm? Found my target again. Shield up, approached. Fire breath? Took the hit easily on my shield thanks to its resist. Swapped to the Dragonbane Shortsword.
Game changer! Fast attacks meant I could hit twice and still have time to dodge or block the tail swipe. Saw the wind-up animation clearly now. Block with the shield – BAM – took a chunk but didn’t stagger me. Phew. Drank a potion during its roar animation.
Wore it down way faster than the axe. The STR Ring added noticeable damage per hit. Won the fight using only one Major Potion, felt smooth, felt in control. Finally!

Here’s what I’m running consistently now for Adamant Dragons:
- Weapon: +30 Dragonbane Shortsword (Speed & Dragon Damage)
- Shield: +20 Obsidian Shield (Crucial Block/Stability & Fire Resist)
- Armor: +25 Fire-Resist Heavy Plate (Pure Elemental Defense)
- Accessory: +4 STR Ring (Just need more damage output)
- Potions: At least 5 Major Healing Potions
Key is that shield block for the physical tail swipes, plus the armor for soaking fire breath. Sword is fast enough to weave attacks safely. Works reliably. Now I farm them without jumping in fright every time they wind up. Huge difference!
