Okay, so yesterday I started this project, “Fly Wing Moto,” and let me tell you, it was a bit of a rollercoaster. I’d been seeing these customized scooters all over the internet, with these crazy wing-like attachments, and I thought, “I gotta try that!”
First, I spent a good hour just looking at different designs online. There are so many variations! Some are super sleek and aerodynamic-looking, others are more… flamboyant, let’s say. I decided to go for something in the middle – functional but still with a bit of flair.
Sourcing the Materials
Next up was getting the materials. This proved to be a bit trickier than I anticipated. I initially thought I could just pick up some sheet metal and get to work, but after a quick trip to the hardware store, I realized I needed something more lightweight and durable.
- I ended up getting some sturdy plastic sheeting, the kind they use for signs.
- I also grabbed some heavy-duty adhesive, a few different sizes of bolts, and some spray paint.
- I also use the tools I already have, and it doesn’t need much.
The Build Process
The actual building process was… interesting. I started by sketching out a rough design on the plastic sheeting. Then, using a utility knife (very carefully!), I cut out the basic wing shape. It took a few tries to get it symmetrical, but I got there eventually.
Then came the tricky part: attaching the wings to my scooter. I decided to go with a bolt-on approach for extra stability. I drilled a few holes in the wings and corresponding holes on the scooter’s frame. This required a bit of patience and some careful measuring to make sure everything lined up properly.
After bolting everything in place, I stepped back to admire my handiwork. It looked… okay. A bit rough around the edges, but definitely wing-like. I then apply the spray paint. The spray paint make it more cool.
Finally,I got the “Fly Wing Moto”! It’s not perfect, but I am very happy for it. It’s also working very well when I tested on the way.
