Okay, so today I decided to mess around with Ross Sutherland’s stuff. I’d heard his name tossed around, seen some of his poetry, but never really dove in, you know?

First, I just went on a basic search. Typed in “Ross Sutherland” and let the internet do its thing. It spit back a bunch of results – his website, some articles, mentions of his performances. It was a lot, kinda overwhelming at first.

I started by clicking around randomly, just trying to get a feel for what he’s all about. I found some videos of him performing. Man, that guy’s got energy! It’s not just reading words; it’s like, a whole thing.

Digging Deeper

After watching a few videos, I realized I needed to be more organized. So I decided to focus on one specific thing: his “Stand-Up Tragedy” series. It sounded interesting, and there seemed to be a good amount of material online about it.

  • I watched a full performance of “Stand-Up Tragedy.” It was…intense. Funny, sad, thought-provoking, all mixed together.
  • Then I tried to find some written versions of his poems from the show. That was trickier. I found bits and pieces, but not a complete “script,” if that’s even the right word.
  • Found articles and reviews discussing the show.

It was cool to see how he used different media, like, he’d have a poem, but then he’d also have video projections and audio stuff going on. It wasn’t just words on a page; it was a full-on multimedia experience.

Honestly, it took up most of my afternoon. I kept getting sidetracked, going down rabbit holes of related stuff. Found some interviews with him, which were pretty interesting. He seems like a genuinely nice, thoughtful dude.

So yeah, that’s what I did today. Explored the wild world of Ross Sutherland. It was a trip. Definitely recommend checking him out if you’re into poetry that’s, like, more than just poetry.
