Okay, so I wanted to hit up a Twins game at Target Field, and I figured I’d try the light rail. I’ve heard it’s pretty convenient, but I’d never actually done it before. So, here’s how my little adventure went.
First, I had to figure out where to catch the train. I live closer to the Blue Line, so that made the most sense. I used the Metro Transit website on my phone – super clunky, but I managed. I found the nearest station and checked the schedule. Trains seemed to be running pretty frequently, which was a good start.
Getting to the Station
Parking. That was my next hurdle. Luckily, the station I chose had a Park & Ride lot. It was relatively full, but i finally found a spot after some searching.
Next, I had to actually, you know, pay for the ride. The ticket machines looked intimidating, but they were actually fairly simple. I just selected “Target Field” as my destination, and the machine told me the fare. Inserted my card, got my ticket, and I was good to go. Remember to validate your ticket before going to the waiting platform.
On the Train
The train arrived a few minutes later. It wasn’t too crowded, which was a pleasant surprise. I grabbed a seat and just chilled, watching the city go by. It was a pretty smooth ride, not too bumpy or anything.
I kept an eye on the stops, just to make sure I didn’t miss mine. They announce them over the loudspeaker, and there are also electronic signs inside the train, but I’m a worrier, so I double-checked a few times. Better safe than sorry, right?
Arriving at Target Field
- Finally, we pulled into the Target Field Station.
- It’s literally right outside the stadium.
- I mean, you step off the train, and you’re basically there. Super convenient!
I just followed the crowd towards the gates, got my ticket scanned, and boom – I was inside, ready to watch some baseball! Overall, the light rail was a win. Way easier than dealing with downtown parking, and probably cheaper too. Next time the family wants to go to the game, I would definitely take light rail again.
