Okay, so today I decided to dive into the world of mock drafts and see what all the fuss was about. I’ve always heard about Todd McShay’s mock drafts, so I figured I’d try to follow along with one of his.
First, I needed to find his latest mock draft. I just did a simple search and found it. I opened that up and started reading through it.
Getting Started: My First Impressions
Man, this thing is detailed. McShay doesn’t just list names; he’s got little write-ups for each player, explaining why he thinks they’ll go where they do. It’s a lot to take in at first!
Following Along: The Process
I decided the best way to do this was to have McShay’s mock draft open on my computer and then have a notepad next to me. I basically went pick by pick and did the following:
- Read McShay’s pick: I read the player’s name and the team he assigned them to.
- Read his explanation: I made sure I understood why he made that pick. Was it team need? Best player available? A combination of both?
- Looked up the players:If I didn’t know the player he was talking about, I just quickly searched them.
- Jot down my own thoughts: I wrote down if I agreed with the pick, if it surprised me, and any other general reactions.
I did this for the entire first * took a while, it was a slow process. I was switching between windows, doing searches, and scribbling notes.
My Final Thoughts
Honestly, it was pretty interesting! I can see why people get into this. It’s a cool way to learn about the upcoming players and think about how your favorite team might approach the draft.
Would I do it again? Maybe! It’s time-consuming, but it’s a fun way to kill some time and feel a little more connected to the whole draft process.
