Okay, so I’ve been hearing a lot about “the killer years” lately, and I decided to dive in and see what all the fuss was about. Basically, it’s this idea that your 20s are crucial for setting yourself up for, well, everything that comes after.

Getting Started

First, I started by just brainstorming. Like, what do I even want out of life? Big questions, I know. I grabbed a notebook and jotted down everything that came to mind, no matter how silly or far-fetched it seemed. Career stuff, relationship goals, travel dreams, skills I wanted to learn… the works.

Making a Plan (Sort Of)

Then, I tried to organize my chaotic thoughts. I grouped similar ideas together and started to see some patterns. It became clear that I needed some actual, concrete steps. No more vague “I want to be successful” nonsense. I needed specifics!

  • Career: I decided to focus on building my skills in a specific area. I picked something I’m genuinely interested in, not just what I thought would make me the most money.
  • Relationships: I realized I needed to be more proactive about nurturing the relationships I already have, and also put myself out there to meet new people.
  • Personal Growth: This one’s huge. I committed to reading more, learning a new language (still working on that!), and taking better care of my physical and mental health.
  • Financially get smart about money.

The Actual “Doing” Part

This is where things got real. I started small. Instead of trying to overhaul my entire life overnight, I focused on one or two things at a time. For example, I signed up for an online course related to my career goals and dedicated just 30 minutes a day to it. Baby steps, right?

I also started saying “yes” to more things. Social events I might have skipped before, new opportunities at work, even just trying a new hobby. It’s been surprisingly rewarding, even if it’s also a little scary sometimes.

Tracking and Tweaking

Every now and then, I check back in with my original list and my progress. I ask myself: Am I still on track? Are these goals still relevant? What’s working, and what’s not?

It’s not about being perfect, it’s about being intentional. It’s about actively shaping my life instead of just letting it happen to me. And honestly, it’s been pretty empowering so far.

It’s definitely a work in progress.I will keep doing.
