Looking for Cat Golf Games? Best Places to Play & Watch!

Okay, so I was messing around with this “cat golf” idea today, and let me tell you, it was a journey. I started out super optimistic, thinking, “How hard could it be?” Famous last words, right?

The Setup

First, I gathered my “equipment.” This involved:

  • A few of those little crinkle balls that my cat, Mittens, goes crazy for.
  • A cardboard box – the classic cat entertainment center.
  • A small, plastic cup (because every golf course needs a hole, duh).
  • My trusty phone to document the whole shebang.

I cut a hole in the box, big enough for the crinkle ball to (hopefully) go through. Then, I placed the plastic cup behind the hole, acting as the “cup” in our makeshift golf course. The setup was pretty rudimentary, but hey, we’re going for “rustic charm” here.

The “Game”

Next, I tried to get Mittens interested. I dangled a crinkle ball in front of her, tossed it gently towards the box, and even made those little “pspsps” noises that usually get her attention. She looked at me like I was a complete idiot for a good five minutes. Classic cat move.

Eventually, she decided to humor me (or maybe she just wanted the crinkle ball). She batted at it a few times, completely ignoring the box and the hole. So, I adjusted my strategy. I started rolling the ball towards the box myself, demonstrating the intended action. Mittens watched, her head tilted slightly, probably judging my athletic abilities.

Then, a breakthrough! She pounced on the ball as it rolled near the box and, by some miracle of physics (or pure luck), it actually went into the hole! I celebrated like I’d just won the Masters. Mittens blinked at me, unimpressed.

The Aftermath

After that one glorious moment, it was back to chaos. Mittens chased the balls everywhere but the hole. She climbed into the box, sat on the cup, and generally treated my carefully crafted golf course like any other cardboard box – a place to nap and occasionally shred.

So, did I successfully create a “cat golf” game? Debatable. Did I entertain myself (and possibly Mittens, for a brief moment)? Absolutely. Would I do it again? Probably. Because, let’s be honest, watching a cat do anything is pretty entertaining, even if it’s completely ignoring your well-intentioned plans.
