Okay, so yesterday I decided to try and make this “running horse” thing I saw online. It looked pretty cool, and I figured, why not give it a shot?

First, I gathered all the stuff I thought I’d need. Paper, scissors, some glue, and a few markers – you know, the basics. I didn’t really have a plan, just a vague idea of what I wanted to do.

Getting Started

I started by folding the paper. I vaguely remembered some origami stuff from when I was a kid, so I tried to fold it into a basic horse shape. It didn’t look like much at first, more like a crumpled-up mess, to be honest.

  • Folded the paper in half, then in half again.
  • Tried to make some pointy bits for the ears and legs.
  • Realized I had no idea what I was doing.

The Struggle is Real

Then came the hard part – actually making it look like a horse. I spent ages fiddling with the paper, trying to get the proportions right. It was frustrating, let me tell you! My first attempt looked more like a deformed rabbit than a horse.

I kept at it, though. I unfolded and refolded the paper so many times, I almost gave up. I even googled a few origami horse tutorials, but they were way too complicated. I just wanted something simple!

Making it “Run”

After a bunch of trial and error, I finally had something that vaguely resembled a horse. Now, for the “running” part. I remembered seeing someone flick the back of the paper horse to make it move, so I tried that.

It kinda worked! The horse wobbled forward a bit, but it definitely wasn’t “running.” It was more like… stumbling pathetically. I adjusted the legs a bit, tried different flicking techniques, and finally got it to move a little more smoothly.

Final Touches (and a Bit of Cheating)

To make it look a bit better, I grabbed my markers and drew on some eyes, a mane, and a tail. I even added some stripes, because why not? It still looked pretty rough, but at least it was colorful!

Honestly, it wasn’t perfect, but it was my running horse (sort of). And I learned that even simple things can be surprisingly tricky. Would I do it again? Maybe. If I’m really bored.
